In my tent 2

Not started my write up yet, but just to keep you interested here’s an “in my tent” picture from Tuesday. The sleeping bag is the Western Mountaineering HighLite, which was fab, more on that anon, the pillow was the Mammut Air Pillow, which was significantly less fab.

  1. that Highlite is certainly very light. looks very interesting indeed and the photo seems to indicate a high amount of loft in the bag too

    1. I’ll give you a heads up when I do the gear round up. It does have good loft and kept me nice and warm, although the lowest temp was 10c, so not very taxing. Like the Comp, it’s a good product that needs teaking to get the best out of it.

  2. you need to teak your sleeping bag? Is it hard or softwood?? 🙂

Jokes aside, i will look forward to your review Robin. I have a weakness for sleeping bags/systems…….

  3. It will be intresting to see exactly what you carry for your trips. I well aware that I seem to be carrying much more bulky/heavy items than everyone I camp with.

    1. I’ll do a list in a later post. I reckon I err on the side of carrying more than most. My all up weight ex water was around 12kg. Without stuff sacks it was 11.6kg, so I reckon the stuff sacks would have brought it to around 12kg. Having said that, I was carrying a tripod (520g) and a pair of Montrail Mountain Masochists (732g), which I was hoping to test, but didn’t use, so that would knock off 1.25kg in terms of “true” base weight, bringing down my base weight (i.e. ex consumables) to just over 8kg.
