Popol Vuh – Aguirre

I watched the excellent BBC documentary on Krautrock earlier this week. I’m a huge fan of German avant-garde music and this expanded my admiration further. I had only vaguely come across Popol Vuh before. This music for Werner Herzhog’s Aguirre, Wrath of God is utterly beautiful and haunting.

  1. Yet, again, a commendable music find!

Now to seek out the CD and add it to my German collection.

Not sure if I mentioned it before – have you come across God Speed You Black Emperor? I saw them with Sigur Ros in North London, circa 2000. GSYBE are in the same-ish camp as Mogwai and Sigur Ros are…. well, Sigur Ros.

Another great ambiant group is Explosions in the Sky.

Hope your back gets back to OK soon.

    Meanwhile, enjoy the music!

    1. More obscure groups to listen to. I’ll see if they are on Napster!

Thanks, my back is improving and the sciatic pain is abating.
