Retirement present

Today is my last day of full-time employment for thirty years. I’ll miss the people and the intellectual stimulus but not the corporate codswallop. I have given myself a retirement present of a MLD Duomid, which I ordered yesterday. I won’t get it until late August, but it gives me something to look forward to. My next trip will be to the Lakes in just over a week’s time. Here’s to being reclassified as “economically inactive” ! I like it.

  1. I will be interested to see what you think of the Duomid. I wrote an article on shelters that I am hoping others will comment on as I think we seem stoically attached to the dual skin tent. Have a look and see what you think…

    1. Thanks, Maz, I will let you know, but it’s probably not going to arrive for another 6-8 weeks. I’m still in favour of two skin tents most of the time in the UK. I’ve ordered the net inner as well.

  2. I’m going to have to join you in the hills so I can examine this fellow for myself. Having looked at Hendrik’s article on the SpinnTwinn, I am getting a little hankering for a MLD Soul bivy with a Grace tarp or a SpinnTwinn. Always willing to try something new and I just get the feeling it will give me a different experience – something a little bit more…visceral?

    1. I am very fortunate. I wasn’t looking for it, but it happened. There’s more to life than work!
