Solomid news

I emailed Ron Bell of Mountain Laurel Designs today. Quick as a flash he replied. What was it about? I asked him whether he had considered making a solid inner for the Solomid. I’m not at all keen on mesh inners for UK conditions. It just so happens he’s in the process of developing a solid inner and there are some photos on Facebook. With the Spintex outer, this would produce a two skin tent weighing just 625g. For summer backpacking, that’s very tempting. It’s not that spacious, so I think it’s more of a summer weekend or lowland option. He said it should be ready in a few months time.

  1. This is the shelter I’m planning on taking on a month long hike in the summer above the Arctic Circle. The lack of space isn’t as daunting when there are huts to escape to if there is extended periods of bad weather!
